Dr. Mary Giuffra

Hi, my name is Dr. Mary. I teach professionals, couples, and two-career families how to be happier, more harmonious, and more successful...at home and at work.  I use a unique blend of psychotherapy and body-mind techniques that helps people listen to their inner wisdom, communicate better, and make embodied, effective decisions.

Throughout the last 40+ years I’ve been a therapist, consultant, coach, and author of 2 books. I’ve also been a wife and mother of four children.  So I needed to make my own two-career family (career, husband, kids) a success.

FIRST, I wrote two books:  2x2 On The Ark: Decoding The 5 Secrets of a Great Relationship  and  The New Two Career Family: How to Win the Time Crunch and Have It All.

Next, I created a coaching program specifically for two-career families and the unique challenges they face (concurrently) as parent, spouse/partner, and having a successful career.

  • Tenured Faculty (New York University, College of Mount Saint Vincent)
  • Dean’s Council (NYU/Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development)

CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

  • Developed an award winning BS/MS nursing program for the College of Mt St. Vincent

EDUCATION and FEDERAL GRANT

  • After receiving a major federal grant, developed a Health, Family and Community Oriented Nursing Program based on Changing Developmental Needs Throughout the Life Cycle in health and illness. (Received international attention and cited in the The Congressional Record.)

  • Woman of Distinction (NY State Assembly)
  • Distinguished Alumni Award (NYU College of Nursing)
  • Distinguished Achievement Award (NYU/Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development)

I’ve written articles for peer reviewed journals and been a major contributor for books on psychotherapy, relationships, trauma, and nursing. I’m have been appointed to the governing boards of medical institutions, universities, and community organizations. I teach therapists in Hong Kong, British Columbia, Europe, the US, and have presented at major national and international conferences.
